Here it is in all it's glory, complete with an ice-scape to display everything on top of...
And here is the ominous door number one...
What could be behind it? One of Jabba the hutt's frogs? Lando Calrissian's aftershave? The corpse of an ewok? See it all... after the jump!
I imagine today there are a lot of excited fans eagerly tearing that first door open, ready to get their Star Wars fix. So imagine my profound disappointment when I revealed this...
WTF IS THIS? That's not a Chewbacca or an X-Wing or anything identifiable! It looks like part of a cannon or a space-guitar! I was livid! How could our ingenious Danish friends at LEGO so miserably drop the ball! This isn't anything from any Star Wars movie I've ever seen! This is unrecognisable! OUTRAGEOUS, LEGO! OUTRAGEOUS!
And then my girlfriend goes, "It looks like a robot stingray."
AND EVERYTHING CLICKED INTO PLACE.
It's a micro-sized version of this ungainly son of a bitch...
Yes! The Bongo sub that loathed gungan halfwit Sir Jar Jar Binks used to travel through the planet's core with Qui Gon and Obi Wan in the cult classic Star Wars Episode One: Everything is Wizard!
Don't believe me? Look again!
SEE?! Just like the thing in the film! It even has three cockpits! I think I can even see a microscopic Jar Jar in there licking the glass.
Playmobil Advent Calendar: 1.
Lego Advent Calendar: 0.
Thanks for clearing that up. We had no idea what it was either!!
ReplyDeleteI actually really like this ship (and the scene it's from). Not so much the Lego version though. The tail part is too stiff!
ReplyDeleteYup - we thought it pretty poor too - not as bad as trying to enter the daily code though - you can't.
ReplyDeleteWe couldn't figure it out either - glad to have found your blog!
ReplyDeletehttp://starwars.lego.com/en-us/advent/Default.aspx Hope this helps. Thanks for clearing up what this was.
ReplyDeleteI had no idea what it was, but my seven year old said it was that underwater ship from episode 1...he's smarter than me.
ReplyDeleteGood call, thanks to your girlfriend! I was at a lose explaining it to my son..."maybe it's the first part of a bigger ship" was all I had. Thanks and good blog.
ReplyDeleteI thought this was some kind of broomstick or vacuum cleaner and was wondering what the heck its doing in star wars calender... :D
ReplyDeleteHa - looks like a very common problem!
