We had a lot of theories about what would be happening with Darth Maul's lower half when he returned on the
Clone Wars. Originally I hoped his severed bottom half would be replaced by a squeaky mop bucket on wheels, and then I was beginning to hope that his new bottom half would be an upside down facsimile of his top half so that he resembled a menacing playing card. And that he would constantly yell, "IT'S A JACK ATTACK, BABY!"
Well thanks to this new epic trailer for his four-part return, we now definitively know that he has robot legs. He also has a smooth, featureless robot crotch, which might explain why he's so damn angry all the time.
But don't take my ridiculous word for it. Press play and watch it for yourself!
awww no bucket. These eps are looking pretty great though
ReplyDeleteI am half surprised that it was revealed in the trailer, but then again I'm sure they want to get a head start on new Darth Maul merchandise.
ReplyDeleteHow do we feel about the new, vocal Darth Maul? He was basically a mysterious mute before. From what I've seen, he has a lot to say now. Maybe it's an effect of his resurrection.
Also... these episodes look AWESOME.
I like vocal Maul. Presumably he's had ten years of stewing in his own rage and panel-beating his own groin. And Sam Witwer does do an exceptional job with the vocals so I think it will really flesh out the character a lot. Even though he is now comprised of half as much flesh.
ReplyDeleteI think I'm up for vocal Maul too. Maybe it was because he had about 2 minutes of non-battle screen time in Ep. 1, and we just never caught him while talking. And yeah, I've seen the videos of Sam Witwer in action and it's very exciting.
DeleteIt's cool and all, don't get me wrong. But I feel no fear or tension. Why? Cause I know Obi-Wan's outcome, and it is not to get sliced and diced by a Darth named Maul.
ReplyDeleteIt's the ONE problem with this Prequely stuff.
But CW and Prequels, like sex and pizza, is better than NO Star Wars at all I suppose. Bring it!
I hear you, but I think that tension can be built beyond the threat of death. There's been some pretty effective emotional wringers in this series. Plus I'm invested in a lot of non movie characters whose fates are yet to be revealed.
ReplyDeleteBut I think the series has gotten excellent at balancing this stuff. The newest episode was excellent and featured an all out battle between Assaj and the nightsisters (whose fate we dont know) and Grievous and Dooku. Even though we know Dooku's final outcome, they put him through absolute hell in that episode. What happened to him was completely unexpected and I was on the edge of my seat wondering how on earth it would be resolved. The movies didn't change that for me at all!
And the bounty hunter episode was great for that suspense, since we didn't know most of their fates.
